Grameen Bank
The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided to award the Nobel Peace Prize for 2006, divided into two equal parts, to Muhammad Yunus and Grameen Bank for their efforts to create economic and social development from below. Lasting peace can not be achieved unless large population groups find ways in which to break out of poverty. Micro-credit is one such means. Development from below also serves to advance democracy and human rights...

For more than 10 years, Yann Arthus-Bertrand has been drawing a portrait of the planet through his aerial pictures. These years of travel and world’s overflights have given him a global vision of the world and its borders.
A Brief History of the Future
In this small book Attali is able to describe wat happened to our pllanet in te past few milleniums and he try to imagine what will happen in the next 50 years base on the past and the most recent history.
i a book that changed my prospective to look at time. if you step away from the recent facts and focus on a larger periode of time and on macro events you might see the events under a new light
Attali predicts that urban growth will be phenomenal everywhere. In 2008, half of the world's population lived in cities; twenty-six of which boasted populations of ten million. By 2025 (according to Attali), the planet will accommodate thirty cities with more than ten million inhabitants, and four agglomerations with more than twenty million. Ouch! This, Attali suggests, will require these areas to ripple or quadruple urban infrastructures within thirty years. This will create even more of an emissions into our stratosphere than we are currently experiencing.
